John Ashby, California Natural Products

John K. Ashby, CFS is general manager of the Ingredients Division of California Natural Products, a pioneering 20+-year manufacturer of natural and organic syrups and solids from rice and tapioca, non-dairy beverages and soups.
John got his Sc.B. in cellular physiology and biophysics from Brown, followed by an MBA from Wharton.
Over the past 20 years John has held various executive positions in the food industry, with an emphasis on nutritional, performance, natural and organic foods with extensive experience in flavors, food product development, regulatory and marketing of food ingredients.
John takes an active role in promoting food science, nutrition and organic foods as a speaker and a contributing editor. He has served multiple terms as chair of the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s California Organic Products Advisory Committee and as chair of the board of the Organic Materials Review Institute.
He lives in Davis with his wife Barbara, toy poodle “Big Duke,” Siamese Simone, and Bengal cat ZZYXX.
